Red Banyan Group, aka RBG, is seeing its website traffic spike since #RBG began trending on Twitter today.

In addition to #RBG#NotoriousRBG is also gathering quite a bit of steam on the social media platform. Hundreds of people on Twitter are weighing in on #RBG, but not to discuss RBG as a top PR firm or hashtag RBG as a leading crisis communications agency.

Instead, they are referring to Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, about whom a new book has been published called Notorious RBG. The book is an outgrowth of a popular Tumblr blog by the same name.

As NPR’s correspondent Nina Totenberg noted in her recent story, the phenomenon of seeing a Supreme Court Justice become a cultural touchstone due to the website’s cheeky irony of associating the octogenarian jurist and the 300-lb. rapper Notorious B.I.G.

For its part, Red Banyan Group is taking a good humored approach to sharing the RBG hashtag. Thanks in large part to the trending #RBG, traffic to the Red Banyan website is up substantially in recent days.

Will any long-term confusion be created by having more than one #RBG out there in the world? The jury is still out!
