Living Sports Legends Mike Tyson and Tiger Woods to Appear at Turning Stone Resort Casino for Major August Sporting Events

Turning Stone Resort Casino in upstate New York will host world-renowned athletes Mike Tyson and Tiger Woods for major sporting events just days apart this August. Tyson will make his world debut as a professional boxing promoter at Turning Stone on Aug. 23 and Woods will participate in the Notah Begay III Foundation Challenge on Aug. 28 at the resort’s Atunyote Golf Club.

International Boxing Hall of Fame member and former heavyweight world champion Mike Tyson will make his anticipated world debut as a professional boxing promoter with “Tyson Is Back!” from his newly formed Iron Mike Productions on Friday, August 23 at the Turning Stone Resort Casino Event Center. Just a few days later, golf superstar Tiger Woods, Notah Begay III and a world-class field of PGA TOUR stars will arrive for the Notah Begay III Foundation Challenge at Turning Stone’s renowned Atunyote Golf Club on Wednesday, August 28.

Presented in association with Greg Cohen Promotions, the boxing world championship doubleheader will air live on the 2013 finale of ESPN’s Friday Night Fights starting at 9:00 p.m. EDT.

Doors open at the Turning Stone Resort Casino Event Center at 6:00 p.m. Friday, August 23. The first undercard bout starts at 7:00 p.m. and the live ESPN2 telecast begins at 9:00 p.m.

Tyson will participate in fight week events leading up to the bouts and will have select media availability. A live press conference with Tyson will be held in the Turning Stone Showroom on Wednesday, August 21 at 2:00 p.m.

Turning Stone Resort’s Atunyote Golf Club will then play host to the sixth annual Notah Begay III Foundation Challenge, a star-studded fundraising golf tournament headlined by Tiger Woods, Lee Westwood, Rickie Fowler, Charl Schwartzel, K.J. Choi, Nicolas Colsaerts and Henrik Stenson on Wednesday, August 28. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Notah Begay III Foundation, which supports the development of sustainable, evidence-based and model programs, research, advocacy and strategic grant making in Native American communities. The event will mark Tiger Woods’ fourth appearance at Turning Stone. The total field of twelve players includes four golfers who are currently in the top-15 of the world rankings.
